Kubota BX25
Has anyone built a cage for their BX25? Doesn't look too awfully hard.

Perhaps build off the Canopy Frame (#1133) and or customize...Sure would be a nice piece of mind...

Perhaps make it so it is easy to remove as well...

A cab / cage would be nice where you could remove the sides in the summer time. Do you have some idea what you would like it to look like (another tractor with one perhaps)?

Actually I am not considering a cab, a roll cage I am considering, regarding
what it might look like, clean, functional, painted same as ROPS . I own
a metal tube hydraulically powered bending machine BUT, I think the
same material as the ROPS would "look" best. I need to ponder more.

The kubota l35 and john deere 110 tlbs both have smaller tubing for the fops and bigger for the rops. I'm going to put a fops on my 1026r due to my frequent tree collisions while mowing.

Be 100% sure it is removable.
I've never mess with a BX, but on the L2250 I had to split it in half to replace a hi-lo shift fork.

I just have to ask why. A roll cage is designed differently for different results. If you have ever been in a caged vehicle that rolled you would understand the differences. If you are worried about rolling down a hill build it tall so the tractor cannot go totaly upside down. If you build it low the tractor will keep rolling over untill it reaches the bottom.

If you drop the left or right front wheel into a hole, inadvertently,
perhaps while backfilling a hole, the BX25 will teeter todder into what
one might call a catastrophic life threating failure. Said cage can &
will protect a mans torso and cranium from crushing forces enough to
decapitate and or "crush "."

"Failure is NOT an Option"
Eugene Francis Krantz

Of coarse if you are tooling around a finished estate w/ a MMM hummin'
and hoping you get done in enough time to wash the MMM before dark
you need not worry. Those of us who push the envelope and "Go For It"
as in digging a hole big enough to bury the entire tractor and occupant
want, and need, more. :D

PS, said cage will stop widomakers as well, ...well, nothing is absolute but
"something" is better than "nothing"

I was road building with the dozer in a fairly high wind. a sapsucker damaged, but still living, tree I wasn't even messing with let go about 20' up. I wouldn't be here if it was only equipped with ROPS. I'm not sure I'd be here if it happened while I was in the pick-up either.

BINGO! Glad your here to tell the tale !

I think that while you are at it you should build in an option to put in some expanded steel on the sides and rear with pins or threaded fasteners. I would love this for woods work.

Should be able to pull it off for under 4K, send it.. :)

Take into consideration that the cage you are describing will make you safer IF you roll. It will also make the tractor roll over easier because you are adding all the weight above the IC (making it top heavy). I am not trying to talk you out of it. I just want you to understand the results. I would hate for you to spend all the time and money to build it and find out it only made things worse.

Yessir, I fully understand the physics. Thank You. I don't think were talkin'
but maybe 30-35 extra pounds anywho... Kubota does not demand you
add wheel weight / lower weights for the canopy so adding a couple of
A pillars is no more than a man heavier than I in the seat up high.

The 1133 Canopy has a substantial support system if I remember
correctly. I do not have it in hand yet but seems to me I could just run a
couple of A pillars from the front of the canopy
bracket down and some gusseting here and there and have a VERY
strong cage. I look at the rearmost pins / pivot for the TOP FEL arms and
am considering making new custom longer pins and attach a bracket
there. I think I suggested I want to make it removable. We will see,
whatever I do I will be betting my life on it based on low speed, non
death defying, no huge hillside work.

Were not talking a high speed risk taking cage, nope, that occasional
plop over unexpected and plausible it is. I would never even expect
a full "Roll" . We'll see, I should have my canopy soon and we'll be better
able to design. I am still considering finding a take off BX25 ROPS
and modifying it. THAT might might be tough n' cool... I like that "Store
Bought" look and generally my work is "Up To Snuff", clean and, well, works!

SWICK1>>> My remark in retrospect almost comes off as indignant
re-reading it this am, CERTAINLY not my intension's, excuse me if it did. Your
idea is plausible and can be done and would be cool. I built some
theft deterrent cages just last week and used expanded metal. The thin
lightweight stuff is very stout when welded every 2 - 2.5" . If it were
part of a cage I think I would tack every last lil nub.

Check out the 4 post system on the B26 photo. I think the B21 ROPS/FOPS might be more suited to a BX.

GARY that could be the ticket! Is that your beauty of a tractor? NICE!

If it is yours and if you have a camera I would love to see some pics of the
superstructure up under there w/ maybe a flash on... if possible?

Building off the top of the FEL support JUST like Kubota did is my idea,
just in a different, obviously, way.

Yes... more b21 photos so I can build one too!

DO you mean B26 swick1?

HERE is a B26 Canopy pdf and its very lightweight frame. After
seeing this and remembering what the 1133 Canopy for a BX25 looks like
I am leaning back towards the 1133.

It does not contain the A Pillars.

I have an L39 and do a lot of work in the woods. It's very reassuring to have the cage. It's not a substitute for common sense but it helps.
