I want to put a bolt on replaceable wear edge on the FEL of my new BX25 before it sees any use.

Is the 6" hole spacing a standard? I only want to drill once and get it right!

Wear is the best place/price to order a 48" bar from? I don't see it at TSC or Northern Tool.

How does the slip over ez-wear design from H&H compare to the traditional bolt on design? Is that design unique to that manufacturer or do others also make it?

Thanks

Welcome Jeff,
I'm thinking of doing the same thing, I'll keep an eye on your thread. The replaceable cutting edge will bolt to the bottem of your bucket and will have square holes to acomidate the plow bolts. The plow bolts are like carriage bolts but they fit flush on the bottem of the cutting edge. the cutting edge is useually acouple of inches longer than your bucket.

have you considered getting a toothbar instead ? it would help with the wear and tear of the edge. markham sells them.

Yes I have. That's why the H&H product looks interesting, it appears to be easy to switch between their tooth bar and their straight wear edge. From the photos on their website it looks like there is one bolt on each end to hold it on. I was hoping someone here has experience with the product.

I have the H&H toothbar, and would never go without it. I will move it to the new BX (if I buy it this week). I will also buy a wearbar from H&H. Be sure to have them make each bar to share the same mount holes. YES, there is one big 1" bolt, washer, and nut at each end... that's it. I love the way it is so easy to install and remove. Go for it!

Iowa Farm Equipment has a tooth bar. It's $274.00 shipping included.

I got my wear bar through the dealer from WR Long. at the time it was $189 and fit like a champ.
Long apparently does not sell to individuals, or didn't at the time, a little over a year ago.

Jeff, did you ever find a bolt on cutting edge? I am looking for something for my fel (wearing out with all the snow we have had here) - I googled Carvers but wasn't able to find anything???? Found the H&H site - need to call so them to get a quote. Just curious what you found out worked best. Thanks.

I never let my factory bucket edge scrape the ground once, put that on with it brand new.

Cement will grind away on the factory edge quickly.

Then last year during the snow I used 5 separate pieces of ABS slipped on the wear edge and that worked well allowing the edge to slide along and not get caught on the joints in the driveway.

That is W.R. Long WB edge, the same as mine. See above.

Picked up the wear bar from W.R. Long through my local dealer. Perfect fit, easy to install. Should do the trick. Cost under $200 including shipping!

Looks like I installed it just in time - the ends of the cutting edge were really starting to wear down with all the scraping I have had to do this winter!

Is winter over yet????????????? Not so much fun anymore!
