JD 4700, Kubota BX2370-1, Kubota RTV1140CPX, Kubota F3060, Club Car Precedent
Thinking once again about consolidating and upgrading. I have received two quotes for a BX2370-1 with:
-loader w/bucket & quick tach pallet fork
-60" mid-mount mower
-60" hydraulic front blade (frame mount, NOT loader-mounted)

I would be trading
'99 JD 425 w/ 54" mower, power flow bagger, 54" hydraulic front blade, weights and chains. ~900 hrs
'66 IH Cub Lo-Boy w/ 60" IH mower, 54" IH blade, weights and chains.

Dealer "A"
BX2370-1 with above equipment, $19900
Trade in JD -$3500, IH -$2000
Total due $14400
Dealer "A" mentioned Kubota 500 off rebate, bringing final price to $13900

Dealer "B"
BX2370-1 with above equipment, $17820
Trade in JD -$1425, IH -$950
Total due $15445
Dealer "B" mentioned Kubota 1500 off rebate, bringing final price to $13945

Interested on your thoughts on these two prices and how they got to them.

FYI, MSRP from Kubota site is $20284 for the above.

Scratching my head on Dealer "A's" deal. May have to think about it some more. His discounted price (slightly less than 2% off MSRP) is higher than I would expect but he is offering a greater trade-in value for your other equipment. This type of deal is exactly how car dealers typically work. Makes you think you're getting good deal. I'm not sure about the $500 rebate. Bottom line price does not seem to far out of line from my recent shopping experience.

The Dealer "B" pricing is more in line with what I found. His starting price is roughly 12.5% off MSRP, which is not too shabby. I think his offers for your trades are somewhat reasonable (I may be wrong here). The $1500 rebate is for qualifying implements (of which you seem to have). Again, the bottom line price does not seem too far out of line from what I recently experienced.

Since the bottom line on both deals are so close I think that you may want to consider which dealer you wish to continue doing business with. Go with the one that you feel will give you better service when it is needed, be it repairs or parts. I know I can find parts cheaper on the Internet, but I like to support our local businesses.

I was informed by JOHNTHOMAS on this site that one could reasonably expect roughly a 14% discount off MSRP. I used that knowledge to my advantage and got, what I consider, a fair deal for my B2320 with 60" MMM. My dealer sweetened the deal by throwing in a Deluxe Canopy.

Good luck in your decision! Either way, you're going to end up with a nice machine.

Phil

Dealer "A" is putting his profit in your trade in's. He's going to have nothing in them, so they will be his profit when he sells them.

Dealer "B" is still having some profit in the trades, and some in the machine itself.

Can't help with any of the trade in offers but can tell you what a quote was in mid missouri about 3 months ago. Kubota 2370 with loader and mid mount 60" mower for $13,500 with 0% int for 60 months out the door.

I suppose I would prefer "dealer A" as it is the closest. I have bought things from them in the past but have never used their service.

Going off of the 13.5 number provided above, +1k for the forks and QA and +2k for the plow would bring it to 16.5k. Minus 3.5 and 2k for trades brings final price to 11k. Do I dare try offering that?

Really all that matters is the number you have to write the cheque for. All the rest is smoke and mirrors.
Trade in values don,t really mean much.
And yes, I would not be afraid to offer whatever you think is fair.
It,s your cash, and a buyers market.

Kubota no longer offers the BX2370. (Except Dealer Inventory) The quotes you posted were for a BX2370-1. So what you must determine is if the 13.5 price was for a BX2370 or the new BX2370-1. The 13.5 price may have been a dealer clearing out old stock to make room for the new.

Very good point, Gator6x4. When I was looking at the machines at the dealer, "dealer A" had both in stock. He said the -1 was about $200 more (which is inc. in the quote above).

The price I mentioned above was for a 2370. I wanted a bx2670-1 but the dealer didn't have any. All he had was the bx2670, but told me there where no price difference between the two. For what it's worth!

Update, additional quote obtained:

Dealer "C"
BX2370-1 with above equipment, $17250
Trade in JD -$2500, IH -$2000
Total due $12550
Dealer "C" mentioned kubota 1500 off rebate, bringing final price to $11050

I called dealer "A" regarding his only offering $500 off and he claimed it was the only promotion offered right now. I called Kubota to check on this and they said it is up to the dealers to decide what promotions to offer. Not sure I understand this, but.

I have it narrowed down to dealer "A" and "C" at this point. Dealer "B" is too far away for comfort.

Next step will be seeing what dealer "A" will do on the price. I would pay a few hundred extra to go with dealer "A" due to past positive experiences, but not $2850.

Since dealer "C" is out of state (44 miles away), how is sales tax handled?
Is it reasonable on either deal to negotiate a brush guard and filled tires into the price?

Most states have reciprocal agreements on the sales tax. A non-issue for dealers of trucks, cars, boats, or tractors when located near state lines.

/ BX2370-1 Quotes #12
I'm sure each dealer does there own thing, but mine came with the brush guard because of the loader. And I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for anything when bargaining. I'd rather here them say no a couple times than leave money on the table. And as far as sales tax, I Bought a motorcycle out of state a couple times and he always had me sign an affidavit saying ill pay taxes in my home state.

Cars, trucks, motorcycles and boats have titles and annual registration for mostly tax purposes and a visible proof of annual update. Plates on cars, trucks, motorcycle and attached registration number on a boat. Not so on tractors. Ky has no reciprocal agreement on tractors like cars, trucks, motorcycles and boats, which they do, and I doubt hardly any other state does on tractors. Buy a tractor almost I say almost but almost sure it's in every instance but got to cover on this forum in case there is that rare instance, sort of like never, anywhere.
Tractors move from state to state and if no one informs a taxing entity on purpose there is no method for gvmnt tracking except by "recorded" liens and that is "usually" done by a dealer when financed at purchase date.
Dealers "usually" don't report sales going to other states if the buyer signs a statement that they are going to another state.
Also in Ky there is no state sales tax if the Ky customer signs a statement that the tractor is being used for a certain percentage number which I can't remember since I've never done it, for agricultural purposes income producing purposes. BP uses his tractors for a commercial garden and sales the crop, I think/understand/have been led to believe, and would NOT have to pay Ky sales tax on his purchase if he lived in Ky and bought in Ky if he would sign the statement that the tractor is used "mostly/percentage #" for income producing agricultural purposes.
This tax savings across state lines is one reason many people buy from out of state because it's a substantial savings of dollars. No, I'm not one of them. I buy from Barlows who charges me Ky state sales tax every time because I won't lie and sign a statement relieving him of the responsibility of collecting the state sales tax and sending it to the Ky Dept of Revenue.
If a tractor is financed with Kubota then the dealer sends a lien recording to the state to cover Kubota credit. If that state gvmnt has a person or policy in place that Dept of Revenue gets copies or sends someone over every so often is probable, in state but not out of state (mostly).

If dealer "C" is out of state, and your state/his state operates like most others, there will be no sales tax if they deliver "out of state" to you. Of course, you may choose to report the purchase, and pay tax, ...or not. I once read that about 90+ % of such deals go unreported. Shipping costs shouldn't be a real issue- Future service might be, or not. Depends if you will do your own fluid/filter changes. Tough choice.

Dealer "A", the closest and my preference, will do $9000 with discounts and trades including rim guard ballast and a front brush guard. Hope to make it happen in early Sept.

Sounds like you got a very good deal. Best of luck! Be sure to post some pics when it arrives.

I failed to mention that we decided to trade in our Gator as well, they are allowing 3500 for it. So, 9000 total trade in value for three machines.

I'll share the exact breakdown when I have the sales slip. Thanks all for the info you have shared.

Deal has been finalized. Equipment will be delivered Friday.

BX2370-1
LA243 Loader
Quick Attach bracket
Quick Attach pallet forks and frame
Brush guard
Frame-mounted 60" hyd. angle plow
60" Mid-mount mower
Rim Guard
Turf Tires

Sad to see our '66 Cub Lo-Boy, '93 JD Gator 6x4 and '99 JD 425 go. The Lo-Boy was purchased new (before my time) and has always been at our property, a youth camp. Same with the Gator. I picked up the JD 425 in 2011, so no real attachment there, but it was a very good machine. I think it is the right time to consolidate and upgrade. We will be going from six pieces of ride-on equipment to four. In addition to safety, efficiency and (hopefully) reliability, we will also be gaining some functionality as we have never had a machine with a front-end loader before. I'll share some photos in a new thread when it arrives.
