BX23 60\" MMM that doesn\'t rub

Greetings, I've noticed a few posts lately that indicate where the 60" MMM either rubs the rear tires in transport position or can't be raised to full height due to the MMM hitting the tires so I wanted to post some pics of a MMM mounted on a BX23 that doesn't hit nor rub the rear tires in any position.

When I originally mounted and adj the 60" MMM, I went in the order per the manual on the adjustments and was surprised at how much adjusting was needed. The right side lift link was lowered quite a bit from the original position it was in uncrated.

This is a pic of the right side in the fully raised position. The resolution isn't that great but there's approx 1/2" of clearance from any part of the MMM to a raised bar on the rear tire.

The left side lift link was turned in to raise it inorder to get the MMM level, side to side. (The right side was lowered and the left side raised)

This is a pic of the left side in the raised position. It also has apporx 1/2" of clearance between any part of the MMM and teh raised bar of the rear tire.

Re: BX23 60\" MMM that doesn\'t rub

The front links were turned in quite a bit inorder to adjust the front of the MMM to be approx 1/8" to 1/4" lower than the ear of the MMM. I believe this also pulled the MMM forward, which may have provided the approx 1/2 clearance form the MMM to the rear tires.
Also note that the right side was turned in a few more turns than the left side as these also effected the side to side level.

This is a pic of the R side of the MMM in the mowing position which is set at 2.5 inches. I adjusted the MMM at a gauge setting of 2.5 to be 2.5" and noticed that the gauge wheel settings are accurate in this and all the other settings once it was setup.

A pic of the left side in the mowing position.

Hope this is helpful. From my experience, the 60" MMM when mounted on a BX23 should not rub nor hit the rear tires in any position and if it does then either the adjustments are off or theres something physically wrong with the linkages and/or mounting hardware.

Oh and I probably had about 2 hrs in uncrateing, installing and adjusting the MMM. And the cut is pretty good.

Good luck

The 60" MMM on my BX2200 doesn't hit either...with turf or bar tires.

I thought the comments about hitting referred to the guide wheels (forget the right term) hitting the tire when turned 90 degrees for deck removal...

Guess I'll move into the /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif category now...

Re: BX23 60\" MMM that doesn\'t rub

Henro, it is both situations on my BX2200. I've checked the adjustments on my deck many times and it is exactly to spec.; including tire pressure. My deck does not rub all of the time. Only when the tractor is on an angle or when I am backing up (my property is very hilly). I told the dealer about it and he said it is a common problem with bar tires. Maybe some are larger diameter than others. Or, maybe they have changed the mounting slghtly on the newer units. Mine is two and a half years old.

Hate to hear that someone dropped a dime on ya to the Kubota Cops. Don't worry, theres sanctuary in the Bota underground (don't tell anyone but it's at Hole in the Lawn). /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

BTW, I haven't had any problems mounting or dismounting the MMM either. I can spin the anti-scalp wheels with the MMM slightly lowered and the left side bar tire lined up with the gap between the bars lined up w/the wheel and can angle it in & out with lifting the front end. hummm, I must be doing something wrong /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: BX23 60\" MMM that doesn\'t rub

Thanks for the pics!
I did some adjusting on my mower last night and it helped out a good bit...I still don't have the clearance that you do, but at least now I can use the "TOP" position on the mower height adjustment knob and I probably have 1/4" to 3/8" clearance with the right rear tire.
The mower is completely level when I set it to cut at 2.5". I'm a little hesitant to lower the front according to the manual for fear that it will place the mower closer to the rear tires.
I'll spend a little more time tweaking the mower to see if I can get it better.
Thanks again for all the help.
