I used to be in the British Fire Service, and many of them had a heater fitted in the bottom hose going from the engine to the radiator. I was with the mechanic once when he fitted one. Drain the fluid, cut through the bottom hose, he used a hacksaw, another cut to leave a gap of about 1 1/2 inches. Pushed in the new heater, two Jubilee clips. Fill up the fluid. He then took the wiring to just behind the drivers seat so a driver couldn't get the door shut without taking out the plug. These heaters were left plugged in all winter. But I have no idea where you can get these heaters or how much the cost.
