Went to start the tractor last week and it immediately shuts off once i back off the ignition from START to RUN. I read the ignition is the culprit, but the condition continues even after replacing the ignition.

I've checked all fuses next to the battery. Is there another one hidden somewhere?

The mower will run if i remove the solenoid, and shut down when i press the solenoid back into place. Is there any way to check the solenoid?

If the pto is engaged or the HST/shuttle is not exactly in neutral and you aren't in the seat this may happen, check seat switch plus others first. Also check for power at solenoid terminals when cranking as some solenoids need power to shut down, others need power to to have engine running. Solenoid resistance should be fairly low 0~12 ohms I would expect.

Most shut off solenoids I have worked with on trucks are actually 2 solenoids in one. the first pulls the plunger back when you turn the key to start and the second holds it back while in the run position.I would guess that the solenoids on our Kubota's is the same The second is the part that usually fails as it is energized all the time the engine is running. Check (with a test light or multimeter) to see if you have current to one of the wires while the key is in the run position. If you have then the solenoid is probably shot.

I decided to put my CD manual in and see what it says. The black wire is ground, the white wire is for the pull in which you know is working since it starts when the key is in the start position. and the red wire is for the hold portion of the solenoid.
Pull the solenoid, hook a ground to the black wire, hook pos to the red wire, push the plunger in. If it does not stay in the solenoid is shot.

What, engine is on your BX2230? My BX2230 has the D902 and has a keystop solenoid, that is only ENERGIZED TO STOP the engine it does not require voltage to run.

Check the keystop relay timer to see if it is working properly, the timer relay kicks in when the key is turned off or the safety switch circuit is broken.

While I agree with your observation, in the case of my tractor, the unit will not start at all if the PTO is engaged, or not in neutral. In this case, it starts just fine. Shuts off immediately after.

Thank you. I will use this to determine if the solenoid is faulty

Uncertain of engine. I will look. Can you suggest the proper method to check the relay? Where is the relay?

Check the solenoid fuse first. If it is blown or not engaged the solenoid will act as you described.

If the solenoid fuse is blown then the tractor would not be shutting down as soon as the key is released, it is a STOP solenoid not a fuel solenoid.

Yes it is a stop solenoid but there is still fuel in the line that gets sucked in and lets the engine fire.
I have had this issue before. I would start with the easy trouble shooting first.
