Dave; There was a one discussion in particular on adding a tachometer to the BX. My search failed to find the thread, so it may have been on the old forum (prior 04/2000). If memory serves me correctly, it was mentioned that the BX2200 (the D905) engine is also used in some other Kubota model (don't remember which one) which does have a tachometer. No one reported actual pursuing the issue.

The question has been asked by several new BX owners, myself included. Within 10 hours of use, you won't even look for a tachometer. You get the feel for when she needs more RPMs, and when less will do. Sure, I would like a tach (one of the items I mentioned in my new owner survey… you will receive one after six months of ownership), but I have learned to be comfortable without it.

BTW… If do you have an urge to upgrade the BX, perform what is probably the number one tractor customization project on this site…. Add lights to the ROPS… After one year, I finally added two 55W halogens to the tractor last weekend. One points forward (trapezoidal footprint) and one aims to the rear (flood light). What a difference! Lights, FEL and a cup holder… time to party all night long /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif!

Red Green!!!! Let's talk about the MAN!!!!

My wife enrolled me in the Red Green fan club several years ago and as part of the memebership kit they sent a roll of duct tape. I keep that particular roll in a special place in the barn. I figure if I ever need to duct tape a rear tractor wheel back on, that's the roll I'll use.

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they better find you handy.

Dave,
Why would you want to add a tach on.

In know time you shall have the feel of the engine when it talks to you...second nature.

Thomas,
No particular reason. I was at work. TOTALLY BORED/w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif
Waiting for the ax to fall!

Logged on for my daily fix of ... um, err, tractors

Started think.... opps, shouldn't go there.

Thought about when I was much younger, we used to add
3 instrument gauges to our cars, a TACH, oil pressure
and a Ampmeter. Thought of those 3 in 1 sets (Warren?)
and wondered what it would look like on top of the hood.
Thought about tapping into an oil line some where, tapping the alternator, then where do I attach the tach?

Started think again ....... dam it, I went there./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

He probably wants a tach so he doesn't pointlessly rev the engine for no gain. The dealer said after jamming the throttle on and backing off a little bit..."Here's rated rpm horsepower"

$$$$$ I'm ready with my money for the tach option, and oh, the yellow shag carpeting...

Uh huh... He must be Carnac the Magjificent.

Not to mention those jobs you may find repetitive in nature and could know the previous speed you found best, which you can't repeat without a tach. Most people can tell if an engine is lugging, but a tach would be nice. If they wanted to save 10cents fine, but they could have put a big blank chunk of abs plastic in a dash knockout for those that wanted one later. They must be ignorant of the fact that not everybody leaves their car/tractor etc as it is. There's a huge untapped market out there for accessories that the dealers seem to ignore.

del, that's just about the same thing a Kubota service rep told me about my B7100, and the fact is that the same would apply to my B2710 (wide open is only a couple hundred rpm above PTO speed), but I like tachometers; won't even buy a new car or pickup without one. However, when I had the B7100, one dealer told me he could put one on for about $200, so I did without it./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif
