BX2200 or JD2210 or JD4010

That is an interesting downsize. From a B2410 to a sub-compact. I think maybe I made the right choice when I ordered the BX22. It gets delivered when I get home. I have not seen a post of anyone unhappy with the BX22. I really liked the B2410 also, it was a bit large to go through my chain link gates. I have not seen any posts on the GC2300. Would be nice to hear from an owner.

More follow up:
I have not heard from GC2300 owners either. I don't think there are many. It's too new.
Around here the GC2300FEL60"MMM is less than the BX2200FEL54"MMM, JD2210FEL54"MMM, JD4010FEL54"MMM.
Add the larger MMM and they are $700-$1700 more. That 4010 60"MMM is expensive.
I could justify $700 but not $1700.
The GC2300 has a little larger motor running a bit slower with a touch more power. I like that idea.
The FEL and 3 pt lift compares to the BX, a little less than the JD's.
The BX has the most refined finish and longest track record, a big plus. But JD and MF didn't become the largest by putting out junk.
Oh to have an bigger budget.

Don't forget to look under the hood. Remember that youre probably going to be doing basic maintenance as well. I've seen that some machines aren't very friendly in that department and is something to consider. I also like the reverse airflow on the GC2300 and BX2200 as well...it makes it awful easy to brush off the finings when they clog up the intake, as you don't have to stop the tractor and get off to do this...

Mdog,
I looked at all of the tractors you looked at before deciding on the BX2200. My first choice was the GC2300. It is a rebadged Iseki. They were hard to come by. Very similar to the BX right down to the boomerang peddle.
The 2210 didn't impress me. Lots of plastic. yes I know that plastic can last forever, never rusts, etc.. I just didn't like it. And it was harder to find than the MF. I think they moved the same beta model up and down the eastern seaboard last fall to all the farm shows. Plus in these parts it was priced so high that the 4010 was a viable option.
I liked the 4010. But it was a little more than I wanted to spend. And it may have been to big for my property. It was the first CUT I looked at and I definitely felt top heavy. My lot is wooded and hilly so that was a factor as I need stability. But I really liked the dual brake pedal!
My deciding factor between the sub compacts was the BX's proven track record. The 2210 and GC2300 were both new models last fall and not readily avaiable (around here) until early this spring. I was a little leery of being a "test model" for Deere or MF.
That all said all of the subs seem comparable so price and dealer comfort should weigh heavily.

Following up again:
I have a MF, JD and K dealer within 25 miles that seem ok.
The BX2200 and GC2300 are in but the JD2210 I was looking at is sold, the next one arriving soon.
I was leaning towards th BX2200 because of track record but it is the most expensive here.
We don't get the 0% for 36 months up north. MF and JD have reduced financing but K is more. If the K dealer can't match financing then I am looking at a GC2300 and JD2210.
The 4010 just seems a little big for close work and the seating platform has less space, I keep hitting the high/low lever with my leg. At just $50 more than the 2210 it has the largest discounts.
Are thought over GC2300 compared to JD2210?
They are both new models built in Japan. I have know of the Yanmar but am not familiar with Iseki.
The GC2300 is priced a bit less with better financing but there are Green dealers everywhere and I think the resale would be higher.
They are both at the max price and because I am happily married and want to stay that way I can't go up.

Mdog,
I always thought that Iseki did some work with Deere. Not as much as Yanmar but I thought I read here that they did. But I am not sure of this.
Between the 2210 and the GC2300 I preferred the MF. First off was the plastic on the JD. But as I mentioned earlier that is just a personal preference.
I really liked the boomerang pedal on the GC2300. It is on the BX2200 and it makes operating the FEL a joy. I do admit it took a little while to get used
to it - like 10 minutes!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif It also has the reverse air flow that someone else mentioned. MF really studied the BX hard before imitating it /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

( but there are Green dealers everywhere and I think the
resale would be higher.) This is very likely to be true. But that was never a calculation for me as I hope to keep this for a long time. I think if I ever trade tractors it would be to a Power-trac for ease of implement attachment.
I spent 4 years looking at these things before finally buying. Until last fall there was really no competition to the BX. The GC and JD really helped to reduce prices in this area of the overpriced BX. I think in NH and New England in general we pay higher prices than many other parts of the US. Least compared to prices people post here.
I do think all 3 of the subs are pretty much equal. Anyone will do and as I said above the price and dealer weigh in heavily.

I would say narrow it down to sub-compact or compact first. You really can't compare the two. Then (it sounds like you are leaning toward sub) sit on and drive each one, how comfy are they, how do they FEEL. How responsive is the dealer. What's your GUT say. Then decide! BUT don't get caught up with comparing HP and colors... all these tractor would do what you need and then some.

Follow up:
Well I plunked down my deposit yesterday.
I went for a JD 2210, FEL, 54"MMM. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
The JD was within $100 of the MF, K was $700 higher and no low rate financing. The JD sits the best for me and I liked the extra 150lbs of FEL capacity. It also has the most dealers around here and the better resale if need be.
Now the second thoughts:) Should I have gone for the 62"MMM /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I think you mae a good choice on the tractor. Service is very important.

As far as the mower. In your original post you said you had close to 5 acres to mow. I don't know if it all is finish mowing or not. If it is fairly level and you have more than a couple of acres to finish mow I sure would go with the 62"MMM. You can do the same with the smaller one it will just take more time.

just my opinion as it will work either way
