Today while snowblowing the grill that covers the battery Iced up, and caused the temp to rise up to the red line. Glad I was watching the gauges. I don't have a cab so snow blows everywhere when the wind is up. Just and alert that others might want to look out for. over heating is a engine killer. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Yea, you need to watch out for a similar thing in the summer when the "stuff" flies when you are mowing. It's really easy to clog up the grill between your feet and cause a similar air flow problem. Dandilion seeds are what I have the most problem with...

Are you sure this was the cause? I do have a cab and one of the standard equipment items was a vinyl shield that completely covers this grille. This helps keep the heat in the cab. I haven't had the tractor long but do have 15 hours on it, all of which were done with that cover in place.

Perhaps it was the filter directly in front of the radiator that froze? This would keep air from circulating through the radiator and possible overheat the engine. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

If you look behine the cover you will probley see a cover on the bottom that was taken off so the air can get in. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If you have the grill cover on with the cab, be sure you take the floor cover off from under the battery. Otherwise the engine can't get any cooling air to it.

Okay, got a chance to check today and you are right. There is no bottom plate installed under the battery so it must breathe from there. Now to call the dealer and find out where the bottom plate is! I may never use it but I think I should probably at least have it in case I want it down the road.
