Does anyone know what the actual U-Joint part number is for a 2001 BX2200? I'm not looking for the assembly part number I already have that: K2561-16820 and that part is $70-$85 plus shipping. I just want to replace the U-joint not the whole assembly. Anyone able to replace just the U-joint, where was it purchased and how much did it cost?
Looking for any help. I DO NOT want to replace the whole assembly this is NOT necessary, just the u-joint.
Thanks.

I hope someone can answer your question along with a supplier link, but I'm guessing you might be the one to do the legwork to find the correct u-joint. It's likely mm and if the key dimensions are measured, you should be able to find a supplier.

Recently there was someone looking for a u-joint for the front implement quick attach driveline and they were able to find a replacement for 25% what Kubota wanted. Yes, it is a bit of work to be the pioneer, but others will be grateful if you have to go this route and document your findings.

Good luck.

If you break the shaft down, mark all joints to make sure everything is put together the same way as it does matter with phasing, usually the splined joints have one spline keyed with a weld.

Thanks to all of you for your advice.
I ended up finding the exact replacement for these on summitracing.com supplied through an after market company called GMB. You can go directly to GMB.net and follow the drop down boxes select the measurements and the type of u-joint you need and that part number directly correlates to the part number on summitracing.com's web site.
This part is, rounding up, $19.00 with shipping. I'll be ordering 2 so that I can replace the other one on that same shaft.
As far as my yokes are concerned, they are not damaged in any way so I will be reusing them as it should be. In all my years of being a mechanic I have never replaced a yoke on a drive shaft with the exception of my race cars and that is a whole different application than this.
Oh, and by the way, here is the web site address to manually look up your desired U-joint, just select the type of u-joint you have and then follow the web pages measuring directions.
Ok, so I haven't posted enough to post links so I will spell it out manually. go to, www dot, gmb dot, forward slash, u-joint-lookup, forward slash

Thanks again everyone!

Sure, The dimensions on my u-joint are as follows: Cap is 20mm/0.7875" in diameter; top of cap to top of cap is 53.65mm/2.112"; top of retainer to top of retainer is 38mm/1.496". Part number from GMB is 220-0028 which Summitracing.com sells for $7.99+9.99 for shipping = $17.98. A far cry from $89.00+shipping. And I'll probably never have to replace it again in my lifetime.
moship - thanks for posting the link properly.

Peace everyone!

I have an update:
I purchased the U-joint that I stated I would and I attempted to install it this weekend.
I ran in to an issue. The Cross of the u-joint was too large to fit between the yokes. The caps fit perfectly.
I needed to modify the length of the u-joint cross so that it would fit between the yoke ears. I ended up milling about a mm off of each of the 4 ends of the cross and assembled it into the yokes of the u-joint and it works perfectly.
So if you order this u-joint for a BX2200 front drive shaft know that you will need to modify the cross so that it will insert into the yoke and then you can place the caps and C-clips on.
Cheers!

Cree_dog,

What do you think the correct dimension would need to be, so it would work without modification?

Can the old u-joint be measured to determine the correct size?

I didn't see where GMB made any other 20mm cap grooved u-joint besides the 38mm one you purchased.

Is it possible there was too much grease in the joint that prevented it from fitting? I have run into difficulty before as the grease and trapped air only compresses so much when trying to put the caps back on. Sometimes leaving the grease fitting off helps. (I'm certain you already thought of this though)

The Home Depot had the 220-0028 cheaper than Summit... Found it odd that they would even sell it. (Wasn't looking for low price. Just searching for dimensions and ran across it)

Thanks for taking the time to report back what you've found.

The purchased u-joint cross was 2.007mm in length and the original u-joint cross was 1.966mm.
I could not fit the cross part of the new u-joint into the yoke as the ends were too long.
I used a Bridgeport Mill and shaved off 0.5mm on each of the ends of the u-joint cross.
The Caps had to be pushed a little farther into the yoke so that the C-clips could be inserted properly.
I've used the tractor several times since this operation and it works great!
