anyone out there that can give me advice on what I should get
for a snow blower. live in NH in an area that usually gets a lot
of snow. It seems like I've seen a lot of posts for rear
mounted blowers vs the front unit. what are the pros and cons
for each, what are different models are out there and what should I expect to pay?

thanks,
frank

I have a BX2200 and I went with a rear 3 pt because of the cost. I paid $1000 for a Puma 54 " inch. They have a web site at http://www.pronovost.qc.ca/indexa.html. The front mounted unit was about $2200 from Kubota. I have a front end loader which I will keep on during the winter. So I can handle the snow drifts and the close work. I also looked at JRW- $1100, Farm King $1200;all were 54" inch units. http://www.sweettractors.com sells the Farm King, but is more then the $1200 I found it for in March 2002.

Guess it depends on how much driveway you have and if driving backwards is a pain in the neck to you. I do not have a cab so I know that will add to the fun this winter. Last tractor a Case 446 has a cab with a front mount snow blower was nice and dry and warm. I know I will end up buying a cap in the future, but this year I will see how it works.
I have not used the snow blower yet on the BX2200, hope to this winter!

The 50" kubota blower lists about $1400 at http://www.tractorsmart.com/. Unfortunately, unless you already have the quick-tach system, you'll have to spend another 800-900 bucks. And you'll need the 4-way loader valve - you can probably work out a swap with the dealer if you have the 3-way. My dealer charged me $30 to trade.
I'd say a front mount would be the easiest/most comfortable to use -- but it's obviously more expensive!!

The Kubota setup with the quick-hitch and hydraulics cost me around $3000

I just bought a Kubota front blower from Service Motors here in Green Bay for $2,057. That included the quick hitch and extended pto shaft. I have an FEL so I did not have to buy a new control valve for the blower. Can't wait for the first snow to try it out. From what I have been told this sucker should really blow snow.....

Oh it does!!!
Hopefully this year we have a decent winter here that we can have a little fun. You're pretty close to me. I live in the Appleton area.

So far I haven't needed them. I didn't have any traction problems with the turf tires last yr. I am planning on having the tires filled though.
