BX22 Hydrostat Temperature

I'll be running a bush hog on my BX22 in the next few days cutting some pretty tall grass. I've been running the clipper on a B7300 but the pto clutch started slipping last year and I dont think it will make it through this year.

My clipper is a Bush Hog brand 42" Squealer. My question is, since the early model BX tractors shipped to the U.S. did not have a hydrostat temp sensor and the function of everything in the transmission, PTO's etc is dependent on the hydrostat how the heck do you know when its getting over heated? By Smell???

Ive searched for and read posts about this very thing and there is no real answer to the question.

I didn't know that any Kubota model had an hst temp sensor. My previous L3410 and current L4060 do not.
When working the l3410 hard I would occasionally shoot the hst case with a thermal ir gun. I recall it getting up to just under 200 deg f, but that's not what you're asking.

Any cutter work, particularly in dry conditions, will require keeping a close eye on the various screens and radiators to ensure good air flow. I wouldn't rely on smell if there is a concern of the hst overheating.

I always watch the water temperature gauge to monitor engine temperature. If it starts to run hot, I clean the radiator and/or give it a rest. I've never had a hydraulic oil temperature issue and have never seen a gauge on any tractor.
