I've had a bx1860 for 2 or 3 years but never used the lift and just tried it for the first time and it only goes up, I can't get the lift arms to go down. Am I doing something wrong?

Nothing wrong... The lift arms are only powered in the up direction. You need to hang something heavy from the lift arms to force them down.

They should drop (if your talking about the 3ph arms on the rear of your tractor) when you push the lever to go down because of their own weight. They do not power down, only power up. If you've never used them then they may be gumed up with dirt or something. Push the lever down while standing on one and it should drop and after doing it a couple of times it should drop on its own with out you standing on it. Maybe spray with some WD40.

is the flow control on the right side of your foot open?

Read your owners manual there should be a valve that controls the rate of speed the 3 point works. Maybe closed up
