BX1500 Question

Sorry, not I.

Wish I did though...

The 54" deck is great. No power issues whatsoever. The only time it's ever lugged down was when I cut my neighbor's 14" tall, very thick, wet grass - obviously more than it was intended for. Even then, all I had to do was slow down a bit. The 54" deck (at least when I bought mine) has a steel chute deflector and pulley covers. They were plastic on the 48" model. I perceive steel to be better quality.

I have had my bx 1500 for 3 years and have never had the 54" deck bog down. I also use it in the fall to help with leaf removal, since I don't have a sweeper, etc. I just start next to the trees with the deck up and then make circles, until I have the leaves in a pile, it mulches/blows the leaves into a pile and as the leaves pile up the mower keeps cutting /blowing them with no bogging down.I then load up the leaves in a cart and the loader and haul them away into the fields and dump/spread them out. Sure beats raking them all. I only use a rake to pick up the leaves to put them in the cart and loader bucket.

How fast do you go?? Mine seems to run fine, but the 54 deck will bog it in average to thick grass unless I mow in low range, or significantly back off in hi range. Even in low range it will not mow uphill at full pedal speed.

I used to have a 1500 and it performed well. Are you running full throttle??? I can see bogging on a serious hill but not on a normal lawn, especially in low range where the thing is a tank.

Mine will not cut uphill/thick grass at top speed even in low range. I don't have a problem with that since I don't need to go top speed anyway. My lumpy lawn would beat me to death if I went too fast. I would get the 54 again, it works for me.

Did you have a 54" mower? I run full throttle to mow and it will mow anything if you go slow -- even 2" trees. However, I always have to go below full speed in low range for thick grass even if its not very high.

Yep, a 54" mower. I would have to slow a bit if the grass was heavy and over 6" tall but always mowed in high range about half pedal.
