Kubota BX 1500 and Bolens ST125
I just looked at a BX1500D today. The dealer states that the tractor was delivered to him on Nov. 04. Looks clean. It has obviously faded some but still looks good. Nice waxing might clear some of that up. The plastics do not appear to have suffered much UV damage. The thing started right up. Ran it for about 10 minutes. Mow deck seemed a bit noisy but that might just be the nature of the beast. BX1500D with 4.5 hrs., 54" MMM, LA181FL FEL and AG tires for $9,430. I requested a complete fluid/filter change and lube if I take delivery. I wondered about moisture and corrosion after sitting and not running over the course of a year and a half. That added $325. Still a little over $800 less than a brand new one out of a crate. When taxes are added it is about $1,100 less. What do ya'll think?

He should do the fluids anyway and if they offer the warranty from the day of sale that gives you a year on the FEL and MMM. 2 on the tractor and 3 on the drivetrain all for 1100 less than new.
I'd do it.

That's approaching the 8 month point, not 1.5 years.
There's no word on this model being ready for a makeover that I am aware of.
If it is large and powerful enough for your slate of tasks, I am sure you will find it superior to its competitors.
I am very happy with my BX2200.

I'm not sure I would do that in case the factory oil was put in there for break-in purposes.

Besides, the $325 is too much. I would keep an eye on that dealer if he is charging that much for service.

I mistyped. It is Nov. 03 which would be 1 1/2 years. My mistake. I'm guessing this particular 1500 is suffering from 'upgraditis". People come in looking for a 1500 then tell the dealer "while I'm here quote me a 1830 or 2230 just for comparisons sake" and viola, they convince themselves that the cost to upgrade is not that much and the 1500 is bypassed, again. But thats just my theory.

Yeah, it is being sold as new as it, well, is technically still "new". All warranties will be in effect from the date of sale. The Kubota financing is also available. One issue I have is that this is not the closest Kubota. My service and such would more than likley be handled by my local dealer. He just doesnt have a hard to sell 1500 lying around.

That was what my father-in-law said. Told me I should go for the fluid changes included in the deal. He also said I otta go for a box blade. This coming from a man raised on a Kansas farm. He's gotta hand shake that reshapes hands. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I think they should be bending over backwards to move a 2003 machine.

His cost for filters and fluids would be under $100. Have him give you the filters and fluids and you could do it yourself. I would still consider it if the difference is over $1000. That's 20 per month on a payment for a 5 yr loan. Nothing to sneeze at.

Thanks for the information and suggestions everybody. I appreciate it. Are there any dealers here that would like to share a comment from their perspective?
