BX Grill Guard On E-Bay

Looks like he does a nice job building those. Are the Kubota ones Aluminum or painted metal?

The ones from Kubota for the BX23 are painted steel.

All BX grill guards are painted metal type. The BX 22 & 23 guards are painted silver with the letters BX incorporated into the design. To me these look much nicer. The grill guards on all other models are plain looking, but painted orange. They will interchange with each other and sell for the same price.

The factory originals have the BX part die cut in the steel and on this one on e bay, the BX is painted on. Other than that, they look identical. His price is almost $130 with the shipping, and you can buy a factory original for $160... the $30 difference to me is a no brainer..... I rather have the factory original for the small difference in price. I know how good the factory welds are, but I don't know the quality of the craftsmanship in the knock off..

I agree with the rest of your logic, but what makes you say the BX is painted on? It looks like it's cut out.

If the letters are not painted on then how do you suppose those "islands" in the middle of the B are suspended?

Hello, As you can see, I'm a newbie to TBN. I am also the seller of the grill guard on ebay. I build these guards for something to do in my spare time /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif. These are not factory perfect, but then neither are you and I, but they do make a nice addition to the front of your BX for a fraction of the cost of a factory model. I'm not a professional welder, but I will guarantee my welds not to break at the weld joint. I made a mistake in my ebay listing. The factory guard from my kubota parts man costs $215 + freight. The one for $160 was an orange FEL model. Sorry for the mistake. These guards are built with the same size painted steel that Kubota uses, with one exception, I used 1 1/2" ID round bars and Kubota uses 1" ID bars. I plan to cut mine back to 1" ID bars to help cut down on weight. I will also list a new version that has 3 bars and no BX logo. Junkman, I no doubt believe that you are a very knowledgeable person, but please research before you assume. My "BX" logo is die-cut, not "painted on". If you look at the photo on my ebay listing you will notice that you can see part of the tractor grill through the BX logo. As you can see by my ebay feedback, I don't sell junk (no pun intended) and I have many satisfied customers. If any one would like photo's, please email me and I will send them. With this all said, I hope I didn't step on anyones toes, but I felt this had to be cleared up........................Thanks, Bill

I also wondered about that, but my guess is that they're supported by a piece or two of small bar stock (probably painted black) on the back of the "BX" plate.

How do you cut the X? Plasma cutter? Just curious.

/ BX Grill Guard On E-Bay #13
I have a friend that has a computer operated plasma cutter and he cuts them out for me. If I took the time to grind out the letters with a die grinder, I could get the edges smoother, but then your adding a lot of time to the fabrication and I'd have to charge $400 for them /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. I think they look pretty good just the way they are. Thanks for asking.............Bill

The grille guard that you see on the BX23's and 22's is standard. I believe there is a different grille guard that you can get for the other BX's as an option.

Jim,
The grill guard is standard on the BX23. There is no standard grill guard, that comes with the tractor, for the BX1500, 1800, 2200, 1830 and 2230. You can buy the guard that is on the BX23 ($215 list) and it will fit on all the BX tractors or you can buy the guard for the FEL, which is made out of flat steel, no round bars, ($145 list) this will also fit all the BX models. Kubota's website may have a photo of the latter guard. I just verified this info with my dealer.

Aren't there patent and copyright issues here?

/ BX Grill Guard On E-Bay #18
I would say trademark if anything but I do not see anything after BX22 or Bx23 online...so it looks to be a free-for-all.

/ BX Grill Guard On E-Bay #19
Jim, There's nothing that I could find anywhere about copyright or trademark issues. Mine is made a little different ie, the letters are block and the factory one has Roman letters. Mine is also different if looked at from the side. If had I used the Kubota name in any way, that would of been an infringement.

Bill
