BX Alternator upgrade kit

OK, I popped and bought the high output alternator kit for my BX2200. I plan on adding more lights, maybe a radio, and who know? Maybe even a cab later. Anyhow, I knew I'd need more than the stock dynamo to do this stuff, so I bought the upgrade kit. It doesn't look too bad to install, but the instructions are really bad, unable to make out any pictures in the one page sheet at all,a nd the wording refers to the pictures.

I know I can figure it out, but I wonder if anyone else has already done this upgrade, and if so, a few pics of the wiring harness (both ends) would sure be a help.

If nobody has done this, and if anyone is interested, I'll post pictures as a project, just as I did with my TinyTach and worklights.... Anyone interested? /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I have a BX-22 on order and asked about the upgrade. The dealer said that they would do it for the parts price and no labor charge with the initial set up of the tractor. The only hitch was that they get to keep the old alternator. I think that I will do the upgrade myself later on. If you don't mind my asking .... what did it cost?? I am doing a lot of reading on this site, trying to come up to speed on these tractors.... thanks for the help......

It's around $160 or $170.......I had mine put on when I bought it.......also got the old one back to /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Same here, Installed with no labor charge by the dealer when I bought my BX22 and got my old one back also.

Paid 160 for it, so it is about the same all over. I like the idea of keeping the old dynamo just in case, ya know? they are pretty expensive to buy if you need one. maybe could sell it on Ebay....

Could anyone take a pic of both installed ends of the wiring harness? I can make out nothing in the instructions about how they have everything mounted under the instrument panel, and in the engine compartment, they don't mention the old dynamo hookups at all...

I was wondering what the out put of the original and the optional alternator is. Called Kubota and got the following reply....

Do you know if they have one for the B7300? I've been wishing for more power for quite a while, and with winter coming I'll be wanting more lights pretty soon. I've got the same dynamo (or pretty darn close - not much amps coming out).

Perhaps you could send me the Kubota rep's e-mail? I'd appreciate it...

I just called the office of Kubota that handled the dealers in my local area. Probably would be the easiest way to contact them and ask the question. Try Kubota in CA at 209-931-5051. From what I was able to discern, different people answer questions on the different series tractors and the person that handles questions for the BX series might not be the one that handles questions on your series tractor....

Something wrong there...I paid $160 or thereabouts for the heavy duty alternator on my BX2200 this summer, and they even gave me the original alternator/regulator that came off to take home with me...

I think the dealer priced it wrong...perhaps the wrong part number? I would have him check it again...or try another dealer...
