I am considering purchasing a new bx 24 I'm on 5 acres of hilly ground part of which I am growing olive tree's ,citrus and fruit and nut tree's. I was going to spec it out with Bush Hog SQ142 Rotary Cutter,60" landpride Rear Blade RB548, Landpride Landscape Rake LR0560 54" mid mount mower. On the FEL I was considering putting on a tooth bar FTB to suit by W.R Long. Can the tooth bar be taken off when you are not using the FEL for digging? Would you substitute the tooth bar with the W.R Long Wear bar for general use,I'm assuming that they would share the same holes on the FEL.
A suggestion was made that I put on a Rankin thumb to the BH I was a little concerned that they would have to weld it on to prevent slipage but if I needed to get it off at some stage this would be a problem . Does anyone have any experience with this thumb how does it compare to the Bro-Tek? in quality , strengh etc. Has anybody had slippage with this thumb?
I had a look at the Bro-Tek web site and was impressed with the rear and front skid plates due to the fact that I seem to have rocks that grow out of the ground , has anybody who has fitted the rear skid had any conflict when putting on there Mid Mount Mower.
Bro-teks ripper and trenching plow look quite good if anybody has purchased these items could they tell me if they are happy with these items? :)

:)

I have no problem with the rear skid plate and mounting the mower, easy as pie... now I am installing etc on a concrete base so everything is nice and level. I think the recommendation on the front skid plate is not when the mover is mounted, pretty sure that is why I did not buy one yet....and of course my limited amount of $$ the boss allows me for my toys...oh, sorry tools!!

Thanks for the reply jimmy, I would have to put the front skid on when going to the top paddock up there I would not have the MMM mounted. I suppose that begs the question on how long does it take to mount and take off the front skid and is it a simple procedure?

Not sure on the front skid plate... but if it is designed like the real BX24 plate., it just a few minutes... I was thinking of buying the front one last winter, but since then my place is pretty cleaned up... no rocks and brush is about gone...so will skip it and hold that money until I can afford to buy the thumb...

The 5' Bush Hog might be a bit much depending on what you are cutting. I have always been very impressed with Bush Hog and Land pride stuff, but for generic stuff like landscape rakes, I would look around because I bet you are going to end up paying top dollar at the dealer. Save your money and buy more stuff!

I take my teeth off my FEL a lot, its no big deal. Also consider zip tying some split heater hose rubber over the steering ball joints because those boots rip really easily (see the related threads on this in the Kubota forum)

I love mine, but look at the B26 if you have some extra bucks laying around

About 5 minutes either way for front skidplate. Four bolts; two into frame, other two into rear skidplate...
