I'm purchasing a BX 1800 with 460 hrs on it and I'm wondering what kind of longevity I should expect from the engine.
Thanks

Even with reasonable maintenance you should expect 6000 hrs., with exceptional care 10,000 hrs. wouldn't be unheard of. On the other hand with no maintenance I've rebuilt Kubota engines with as few as 80 hrs.

The only 'bad practices' I can think of for an 80 hour Kubota engine would be........running gasoline in it, the operator throwing the air filter away during a dust storm, or submerging the unit entirely in water(usually this just requires an oil change with new filters).Brain was a Kubota Tech so I'm sure he has seen a lot of bad practices.

Geez guys, lol. I did say NO maintenance. The particular instance I was referring to was a machine whose air filter was so plugged it sucked a hole in it and dusted the engine. It never saw it's 50 hr service. The owner was a little upset that his guys never checked anything.
