Buying tractor for the first time!

My experience I have just picked up a 100ac.lease and have spent 6 days with a kubota m5040 4x4 (no cab)and a 8ft shreader and have just got the bad spots mowed and have a 21ft boom sprayer that i sprayed the rest.When i helped my parents at there ranch he just bought a kubota m7040 4x4 with cab and air and a 14ft shreader,it was a so much nicer covered alot more ground, a/c was nice,and radio playing.Cab was like 4grand more,if you could really get by without 4x4 I would def.go with the cab.I can pull his 14ft with my 50hp in light stuff, it will pull the 8ft in just about anything no problem.With that big of a place would go with something in the 70hp plus range so you wouldnt be limited with what you could do.

These are used equipment listings for tractors and farm equipment. I think tractorsmart is the easiest to use, but I haven't been on the others in a while myself.

As for size, I think you are getting good advice. I am not qualified to give good adivce, but the upper range of the CUT sizes sound like a good minimum. 40-60 hp or more. In the Kubota range this would be the larger L series ones, or the bigger frame M series. Can't say I know other lines all that much.

Hi,
I've been looking at tractors, and most have a PTO of about 540 RPM, but some (newer ones) seem to have a pto that runs at 540 and about 1100 RPM.

Question: is it important to have a pto that will run at the higher rpm-- what equipment is the higher pto rpm for?

No clue. Everything I have seen runs at 540.
