Buying Local vs Internet

Perhaps they should start selling on the internet as well. Many businesses have brick/mortar and sell on the web.

Businesses, like always, need to adapt to the times.

Another aspect of this problem is that some people will visit the local retailer to learn everything they need about a product, and then buy it on the internet.
The local guy provides the service but doesn't get the sale.

Some do sell on the internet. However it is a much bigger field out on the internet than in a small town. the big ones will have the volume purchasing power and can sell cheaper, and buy prime top spots on the search engines. The same deal as a wally world super store vs the locally owned grocery or department store.

Yes it is a sign of the times and all of the changes coming will not be good for some of us.

I can see merchandise vendors going away. The service merchants and immediate need merchants will stay. You can't mail order a lube job wait for a light bulb.

yes service vendors will stay somewhat. but some of them will go as a lot of their business might depend on sales and then servicing what they sell. ie if everyone orders their chain saws over the internet then the local dealer will go out of business.

It just seems to be an inevitable change in our society, and not always for the better.

I think this scenario is exactly what some of the tractor manufactures are trying to avoid.

I also think Internet sales of tractors is going to be an acceptable practice sooner or later.
