Buying first digital camera...HELP!

You are going to love that camera.

When it was learned that you had many Nikon lenses already -- going with a Nikon SLR was the smart move. The D70 is Nikon's answer to the Canon Rebel. I love when two companies compete with each other -- it really benefits the consumer.

I can't wait to see some samples of the pictures you will be taking.

The D70 is a great choice. My son did exactly what you've done, and he's very happy. We're looking forward to seeing those action shots.

I need to provide a follow-up to this. Wife went to use the HP a few minutes ago. Wouldn't work. She changed the batteries. Nothing, but an error message on the screen. I then got involved. Removed the batteries and various other power off & ons. Contacted HP Tech Support. Internal Error. Needs to be sent in for service. Of course warranty expired Oct. 8. Asked since it was so close if they could do it, NO. They then mentioned upgrade options. Basically I could get the next model up for a nominal fee $250 +/- depending how quick I wanted it shipped to me. A.) I don't consider that nominal B.) But considering the original camera was only $200 at Christmas last year and $180 now I don't think that is a nominal upgrade price.

Guess I'm going to have to go back a reread this thread and looking for what to buy next - one thing it won't be is an HP. I saw a new Konica-Minolta that I liked the other day that still used my existing SD cards and takes a battery pack. Hmmmmm.....decisions....decisions.....almost as bad a buying a tractor.
