Ford/new Holland 1520
I'm looking at 1995 1520 with bucket and backhoe, approx.4650 hours, 4wd and in decent shape. what is the good, the bad and the ugly? I will be using it for light work on a 10 acre piece of property.
Thanks

1995 was the last year for production of the Ford 1520, produced by Shibaura of Japan.

New Holland compact tractors are produced by LS of Korea.

Not sure how easy it will to be obtain parts for the Ford after 26 years nor in the future. To me you are considering an orphan. 4,650 hours is pretty high. $14,500 seems high to me. Can you wrench it yourself? I would have a tractor mechanic check it out thoroughly.

Determine if it is 2-WD or 4-WD.

It is a light tractor for use on ten acres.

Kubota's equivalent is the Kubota 'B' series. Kubota dominates tractor sales in the 2,000 +/- tractor weight category.

I've looked at them and really like them, only issue I found seems to be parts availability can be hit or miss. Most service parts aren't a problem, but there has been some difficulty getting repair parts, recently it was brake components for a neighbors 1520 or 1720 (can't remember).
The factory loader capacity isn't bad but a bit lower similar sized newer equipment. Is this a gear or HST?

Not sure how pricing is in your area, but price seems high for the hrs on the machine. Although these days prices on all equipment is high. If in really good condition it might be worth it because of the bqckhoe.

I really want a 2120 HSS!

Yes, but the same tractor was produced under the Hew Holland name until the late 90's, I believe 98.
I would put them closer to a Kubota std L in size/capacity.
