Congratulations Jody, You won't regret your decision to buy that nice ck35. Your idea to fill rears is the right way to go so far as I'm concerned. The CK30 rears are bigger than my CK-20 but loaded rears gave me close to 300 LBS to hold down the back when using the FEL and no other implements on rear.

I believe they used chloride for fill in some older tractor rears. That had to be worse for coroding rims than the newer stuff. Do you suppose that might be what you had in your last tractor?

Rimshot I would say your absolutely correct, I think they used like a calcium chloride. This rim guard stuff, it's the first I hear of it. Where do you buy it and is it as the name says RIM GUARD ( safe for the rims ) so it doesn't corrode them and stuff. I guess i would have to take my rims/ or tractor to a tire shop to have it done would I or does alot of tire companies have a mobile service to load tires? Thanks for the help

Jody,
Welcome to the Kioti gang. You'll have hours of fun with it I'm sure. I am also in Nova Scotia, Pubnico, Yarmouth Co. Where are you located?
About rear ballast. If they now make something to fill the rear tires that will not rust out the rims then I only know of two more reasons not to consider filling the tires. 1. If your find the tractor too heavy for the lawn, you cannot remove the weights. 2. If you puncture a tire the repair could cost a little more. I had some kind of liquid in my last tractor. I don't know what it was as I purchased it used. It was a 1998 Kubota. I needed to add air to one tire that leaked a bit but the valve stem was corroded in and could not get air in through it. I eventually was able to remove it and replace it. My CK25HST has no ballast in the tires. I most always carry 750 lbs on the 3PH and I have chosen to stay without tires filled so that I can remove weight to occasionally travel on the lawn. You need to decide what you feel best with.

Deon Thanks for the great information, I live out by the Halifax Airport, I'm pretty familiar with the pubnico area, I've work at the windmill site a few times. Yeah I'm trying to figure out what to do, I think that my tires being loaded would be really nice, I'm actually doing some research on rim guard rimguard.com, alot of people on here use it and it don't hurt your rims or corrode and it's biodegradeble so it can't be too strong and it's also heavier than water. I actually have seen people use windshield washer fluid before believe it or not, it worked, it don't freeze. I don't mind the fact of ripping up the lawn for the amount that I will actually be on it. Thanks for the feedback.

I have my tires loaded with rimguard. I love it. For most loader tasks, I don't need a rear ballast. Even with a full bucket of rip-rap extending way out onto and past the toothbar, and the tractor pointed downhill, it was always stable. Of course, it is safer with a rear implement. Uneven ground is where you have be to especially careful. I've had one front and one back tire off the ground a few times. Not a good feeling rocking like a teeter-totter.

I have noticed condensation on the rims when humidity is high and temperature is low. Bound to eventually cause some rusting. But, not like the old calcium stuff. Another alternative is foam filled. If I ever have to do this again, I think I will be going with foam. I like that it makes your tires flat-proof, and is heavier than the fluids.

I believe it, because my tires are loaded with windshield washer fluid.

I've been calling around here in Nova Scotia and alot of people still use Calcium Chloride and think I'm crazy when I mention the word rim guard lol I guess Nova Scotia hasn't seen it on the market yet. Windshield Washer fluid might be the way to go over calcium chloride bu I'm still going to look for rim guard availability in canada Any help on the search for it in Canada would be great Thanks

I think all you have to do is read the original poster's first post to know that's not what he is implying.

Jody, I don't think you'll find Rimguard in these parts. However, look at the Regional Forums, under Canada, there's a post there by Tug Boat-2, there's a similar product, it's basically Beet Juice. The nearest distributor is in Ontario.

Good luck with the Kioti.
