Simple. You Dealer was trying to up-sell you on a tractor that cost ~$10k more:confused2:
But I assume when he says "will not handle" That he means the shear weight. And going up/down hills, and making turns.
If you get a BH that is TOO heavy, the tail like to wag the dog.
That said, your dealer is absolutly wrong. That L3800 will handle a 5' med-duty cutter ALL day long. The last thing you want to buy is a light duty cutter.
I have a L3400 (same tractor, little less HP) And I run a 6' BH that weighs over 1000lbs. Heavy duty. But the FEL MUST stay on. But it handles it just mine:thumbsup:
