Have a 60" 3 PT Bush Hog mower and it is just killing me to pay $95.00 for a set of (3) blades to replace my old worn out ones. They are reverse turning with a 3/4 inch center hole. At my local fleet they just stock regular blades. Anyone have any sugestions where I can purchase aftermarket ones?? Thanks Lloyd

Perhaps if you supplied a Bush Hog mower model number or a blade part number, somebody could offer some suggestions. God helps those that help themselves, you know.

Has anyone ever taken a grinder to a bush hog blade? I used to sharpen the blades on my lawnmower and I am contemplating the bush hog. I hate to spend money if I don't need to!

All the time. You don't want them super sharp, they'll just dull that much faster. All I do is knock off any parts of the edge that are curled upwards from hitting rocks, ect. When I'm done the edge isn't straight across but full of little nicks from those rocks.

If you grind them, keep them the same weight so the balance will be correct or it will shake it to pieces or worse yet fly apart and hurt or kill someone including yourself.

Take them to a weld shop or if you have a welder do it your self. My friend has a strip of copper that he lays the blade on and welds a bead or beads along the edge sharpen's them to around an 1/8 inch edge, and balances them to approx the same weight. So far he has had good luck doing this and no problems with shaking the deck apart.

I get the impression that the OP was talking about a Bush Hog brand 5' finish mower with three blades. This thread has wandered/drifted into talk of rotary cutter blades and that's a completely different animal. Frankly, $95 for three heavy-duty blades is not a horrible price. I've paid $45 for blades for a Kubota lawn tractor with 48" deck and I'm sure they were nowhere nearly as heavy as the Bush Hog brand rear finish mower.

You're not thinking of replacing blades, because they are dull are you?

I would hate to spend that money also!!! Yes, I sharpen my bush hog blades regularly.

Yes, I caught the 3 blades. Got to be a finish mower and $95 is not so bad.

The problem is that Lloyd said his "Bush Hog" was a 60' RFM, but had reverse cutting blades with 3/4" holes. On every Bush Hog model of 60" mower listed on their website, they use part number 82324 which is a CW cut blade, 21" long, and with a 1/2" arbor. Amazon sells replacement blades for around $17-$22 each. The only thing I can think is that Lloyd doesn't really have a Bush Hog brand mower, but is using a generic term for some other brand. That's the point RickB was making. Any description of the mower needs to include the exact model number and brand for us to give accurate help. As far as I can find out, none of Bush Hog's current models are reverse cutting or 3/4" arbor. Perhaps Lloyd meant "rear discharge" instead of reverse cut. It would seem that unless he can post a follow-up with more info, his request is "dead-in-the-water."
