Burning brush

I use diesel, used motor oil, waste paint thinner and a hint of gasoline mixed in a bucket ,to start a fire.

When i build the brush pile i put one or 2 tires under the center before i build it. Illegal, yes, but it works soooo good to get a hot fire.

My neighbor used to run a dry cleaning business. He used the bags of lint filtered out of the washers as fire starter. Burning perc definitely can't be good for you, I tried to stay upwind when he was burning that crap.

I was having the same problem until I bought a 500,000 BTU propane roofing torch. Pile the brush up -- stick in the torch in the bottom of the pile for a few minutes and wonder of wonders it will light even snow covered brush
Works well on weeds too
Once the pile is burning in the centre, everthing seems to dry out and ignite -- and accelerants like tires and oil may help but are usually not required. I have seen similar torches at harbour freight for around $20 -- a lot cheaper than the legal fees and fines
Almost forgot -- if you really want to make sure it burns , dissolve styrofoam in gasoline untill you have a sticky paste -- poor mans napalm!!

Yep --like that one except you do not really need the ignitor model -- its 10 bucks more (OK I'm cheap)
Mine is basically a three foot pipe with a valve and a blow torch head so I dont worry about just sticking it in the brush pile. My wife calls it "the match"
