Why have burn barrels become so expensive ?
I use to buy them for $4, the last one I bought about 2 years ago was $8.
Now from the same hardware store, they are $20.

Try shops that do a lot of heavy truck maintenance . They actually have to pay to get their drums hauled away. They buy bulk in 55 gal drums from the local or regional oil supplier. Also try those same oil wholesalers themselves. They often have to pay for their empty drums to be removed and they have a lot of them sitting just piling up.

At least you can use burn barrels. Burn barrels are illegal here. Although there are people who take a chance and use them. It's a hefty fine if caught.

That’s why I live wayyyyy back off the road. Out of sight is out of mind in The People’s Republic of Neuyorkistan.

Yup, illegal here too. So is an outhouse. But as @drizler said, "Out of sight...." How many more reasons does someone need to be far remote?

Yeah but the DEC are like bird dogs. They see a little smoke and follow it to the source and issue that big ticket. Keep your fingers crossed they don't trace it back to you. That's how I got caught. I had been burning for years and didn't know it was illegal till they showed up.

If you can use a "burn RING", I'm gathering the parts to replace the rims on my International 1066 rear wheels. Though I don't know specifically, they are roughly 16 inches deep (bead width on tire) and maybe 30 inches "wide".

I've got the air valve leaking some calcium choride so it's pretty rusted out right there (but still mounted on tractor and still working fine, I just want to fix it before anything happens)

You could have it for free if you wanted. I don't need a ring or barrel, we have a depressed dry pond area where we stack up our burnables.

There's the cost for the barrels and also a dozen .45 rounds to make the air inlets. Those are getting expensive too.
