All this chatter has me rethinking my build. Perhaps I should have another brace from the bucket cutting edge to directly below the truss support. Most likely way overbuilt already but overkill is how I wobble...

You would only gain more strength because you shortened the length of the boom cantilever.

The boom has to be treated as a seperate member and regardless of where the lower leg support is placed in relationship to the truss support the failure will be at the lower leg support.

Unless someone can prove otherwise the placement of the truss support directly over the lower leg would only get you a very very slight increase in strength if any at all.

Yours looks fine, you could put a plate gusset in there if you are worried.
That's what I did to extend the support, But I don't even have the truss and have had no problems.

Why did you choose to put the receiver in the bucket?

The receiver is used to move any one of the 6 trailers I have. Top of the bucket was too high, nard the tail of some trailers drag.
