BUILDING JACKING

Did it kinda backwards, when we bought our one story camp,in 2000,i was kind of in a hurry to add 2 more storys. The building had a few blocks etc under it ,but wouldnt support the added weight.I jacked it up and put some carrying timbers under it,and got some make shift blocking under it.Why didnt i put pads in myself?ONE JACK,VERY TIME CONSUMING,AND I DARN NEAR HAD IT ON TOP OF ME ONCE...SCARED THE BEJEESES OUT OF ME...ILL LEAVE IT TO THE PROS LATER.
HERES A pic of the camp.We love it but that tempory cribbing was starting to settle, one end of the place was 4 inchs lower than the other.

Re: BUILDING JACKING

We hired this guy "BUSTER" to do the work. He did my mother in laws house and his work was top notch. We supplied the materials, except he brought the crushed stone in his one ton,he reccommended it for drainage under the 24 inch pads.
Jacked the camp up about a ft ,and leveled[I checked, not off a bit any where] dug out where the pads were in put in stone,15 pads installed, and blocks...2 days work for him and his helper.flawless work............................................................................................all for a grand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! glad my wife is a building supply manager, and knows him[actually hes usually very reasonable with his pricing.HOW COULD YOU BEAT IT ?
Heres a pic of his work.

Re: BUILDING JACKING

I've been asked to do some foundation repairs and leveling of homes, but decline. That's some tricky work that requires more skill and knowledge than I posess.

It looks good, but I'm wondering how is the house anchored to the ground?

Re: BUILDING JACKING

EDDIE.
The camp isnt anchored. The other side has ledge that comes to the surface, and two of the pads set on it.Where the ledge is that close to the surface,we have never had any heaving problems because of frost. On the other side the end beam has no cinder blocks, the picture is of the highest end.with 15 24inch pads, and all that ledge,im not the least bit concerned, with it moving, cant see how it could.
If i did foundation work,id have enough jacks to lift it all as one from the outside as he does.Never again will i jack while under a building.
Great news...got the final bill today only 850,cheaper than he quoted me. ALAN
