I have lots of metal laying in one big pile and I am making a very simple rack to store it, This is just the ends and will be welded to a rolling 4 X 8 frame so I can move it where ever

and both

more pictures to follow and as you can tell by second picture, this metal takes up some room and the one I need is always at the bottom

It was easy everything is 4 feet long and 20 inches wide at the bottom, I used 2 X 2 X 1/4 and one piece is 20 feet long and it took 2, cut 4 feet long, I still need 2 more 4 footers for the base that I will weld on a cart
my spacing is on 12 inches

Nice job MrJimi, will this be for inside or outside storage?

Inside of course, all my metal is new, I hate grinding rust. The base I will be using is one of those huge carts they store lots of lumber on with 6 wheels at stores like hd and Lowes
I need my floor back :D

Sorry about the delay but like most of you I have been busy with everything, here are some pictures before I put the rest of the metal on rack and the last one shows the wheels that should be strong enough

Excellent job!

And, I noticed you had a link to "my gallery"

Great set of photos of what you have done... particularly I liked the "tree and root bucket" that you did... is it as handy for digging/scooping in reasonably soft ground as it looks?

Thanks John as you already know Florida is a sandbar with houses on it :D
The ground is mostly sand, not like the ground was when I lived in Maine with real dirt. I use that root/tree bucket very much and I love it, I have added a 6 inch channel to the bucket, bolted on and it's a trench digging machine. I have been after a subsoiler with a small plow for trenching, burying wires, water pipes but with this bolt on 6" I don't need it
The gallery link is easy, I just learned how to do that recently
Thanks for the compliment
:)

Sharp looking!!!...do you plan on putting something like expanded metal on the base to store those shorter pieces.

I have an old piece of OSB 1/2 ply I'll put at bottom for small odds and ends It won't be pretty but it will work good. The problem I'm having now is my flat stock is drooping but I will make some simple easy to adjust clamps to hold the up on edge.
I have tried the box, barrel and the one I need is always buried
No more:D

My solution to that problem was a 10' length of PVC S&D Pipe left over from another project. Laid in the rack, it was perfect for spporting and keeping the longer lengths of flat stock corralled.

In his signature line is a link called "my gallery." if you click on that it will take you to his pictures on TBN. Then with a bit of searching you will come across this pic. I really do not know why the links are not showing up in the thread.

Mr Jimi past away a while ago...I suspect the pictures in his post where linked to a photo hosting site that is expired now rather than being uploaded to TBN.

Since your joining tractorbynet was in 2009 I thought that you might not have known Mr Jimi had passed away, so I thought you might want to read about it. I figured that might have been the reason for not being able to get the pictures. I really enjoyed reading Mr jimi's posts, he's missed.
