Hello,
I am building a 16 x 30 lean to horse run in shelter and I am using (6) 6 x 6 post as load bearing post and (6) 4 x 4 as non load bearing post. 16 feet lean to steel trusses on the 6 load bearing post along with 2 x 6 purlins that go on the steel trusses. My question is: Can I install a shingle roof instead of a metal roof with the steel trusses? I have all the materials to build a shingled roof and I hate to build a metal roof since I have shingled every other structure on my property, plus my horses will run out of it at the sound of rain here in central Florida. Thanks.

A little off topic, but when I had my last pole building built, it came with that "bubble wrap" insulation on all walls and under the roof deck. I must say that it does a pretty good job of attenuating the sound of rain. My other 2 steel buildings have none, and you can't even hold a conversation in them while it's raining hard, but the new one with the insulation is quite tolerable. The side facing in is white, so it also brightens up the interior.

I don't see why you can't do a shingled roof. I assume you will use plywood sheathing attached to the purlins for yor roof decking. If you are doing metal siding then consider a slight overhang on all applicable sides so that you can use J-channel at the top to secure the top edge of the metal panels.
