Building a Hobby Farm- from woods to eggs

Do you have plans for a chicken tractor? I have a site (not with me) that has hundreds of pictures. No plans, but pictures that can give you ideas.
I'll post it up later tonight when I get home.

POC, See the photo on post #336 That is the inspiration for what I'm after on the chicken tractor.

Once in awhile luck finds me...my wife called on her way home from work and said that a nearby construction site was grinding all the tree debris. I quickly hooked up the trailer and headed down the road. I got a heaping load this evening and he said come back tomorrow as much as I'd like! Here's a shot of the road out to the garden with the mulch. It's course enough that I doubt it will float or wash out except in the heaviest of rains. We're gradually hiding all that red clay!:D

And for those keeping count, yet another use for my $30 trailer! ;) The wife cringes every time I remind her...

Patrick, thanks for the link. It will take some time to digest all those photos!

No problem. I'm new to the chicken world myself.
The one I really like and am going to pattern mine after is under "--Rob and Jenn, TX"; second line, first picture. A-frame with the little outcrop toward the bottom. The nest boxes are in those, and the roof hinges up to gather eggs.

Thanks for the offer Gizmo. With gas prices where they are it would cost me more to come out for the mulch than it would to just buy some locally. :)

I ended up picking up three more loads of this stuff at no charge anyhow. He even offered to come out with his dump truck and leave me a pile. Problem is, he can't get his dump truck back to the farm area and my wife won't allow a big pile of mulch near the house. Would've been a good excuse to buy a FEL! hahaha :D

Still chipping away at the chicken coop. Should definetely have it done this weekend.

I guess I better come clean...
I just read this entire thread (while at work). It's nice to know I am not alone in my love (addiction) of building a "Hobby farm/ranch".

Tony, you have a really nice place there and a great family. Thanks for letting us share it with you.

Tororider, WARNING-WARNING-WARNING! Horse's are not for the faint of heart or light of wallet ;) .

I have a 30 acre hobby ranch with one Quarter horse and one Paint. It all started about two years ago when I had the thought that I would get my wife a horse. Well I've spent more than I care to mention on the horses and tack and trailer and truck to pull the trailer and fencing and hay/feed and equipment to till, plant and make hay. Planning a new barn, right after we get our new house built (starting next week). Haha, just lock me up I think I have lost it...:D
