Not THAT in depth, but I am beginning to plan my next Project.

I have an Old Well that was POORLY sealed with concrete. The concrete is cracking and breaking down and I can now see into the opening of the well.

It is about 3 ft diameter Concrete lined well that goes all the way down to water (depth Unkown).

With kids in the future, i do not want to have a "little Jessica" episode. So I have decided to remove all the concrete around the casing and make it into a Stone faced Well with a boom / bucket, and posibly Hand Pump.

Does anyone have experience with the Hand Pumps?

Research starts now, Project starts in a few weeks.

If it is an abandoned well I sure would want to know the water quality before putting a pump in it. Bored wells like that are normally not that deep and are susceptible to contamination from ground run off. Even if you want it for irrigation only a hand pump might encourage a young one to stop for a drink some day. Could even be a liability.

I think you have a marketing opertunity. "All Natural Diet Water" Loose 10lbs in 2 days. Nobody cares what's in that diet stuff, they just want results.
