Can anyone out there that has had both three point brush mowers and pull type tell me the advantages of both. I have two threepoint brush mowers and wanted to puchase another but thought I woul find out if there are any advantages to pull type. Thanks

First let me say that I don't have a pull type. But I will give my opinion anyway. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif There are 2 pull type configurations. One has wheels mounted at the rear of the deck. The other has the wheels mounted mid deck. Both pull like a trailer.
The main advantage is that it will follow the contour of the ground instead of rising and falling as the tractor goes over bumps and dips. That should give a more even cut over uneven ground. The mid wheel mount should be the least likely to scalp.
The main disadvantage would be that backing up would be like backing a trailer, much more time consuming than a 3 pt.

The other thing I found about pull behind type is the angle of the pto drive shaft can get quite tight and put quite a strain in things . Actually bent a pto shaft in the tractor once. Kind of a project splitting the tractor and opening up the trans to replace the shaft. I use a 3 point now . I man learns a lot about his tractor when you have to "open it up"

Sounds like the three point mowers are better,I was just asking because if pull behind mowers had some advantages I was going to try one. Thanks

U can use a larger and more HD mower than u can lift w/ 3 pt.
I used to pull a HD 7' Bushhog w/ a Super H.
But in soft ground if the mower goes down u r STUCK.
Like others said sharp turns break PTOs.
