Found this today. Quite the noisy affair. I assume it is something for logging... I am stymied at how someone could forget to load this back on the truck. Found 300' of 3/4" steel cable as well. Still, the burried tire rim and the Ibeam where the loudest noise....

Carl

ps, anyone know what this came off of?

That sounds more expensive than a good metal detector, how much for the new found grapple :D
Just kidding, I would be adapting that to something

All I can say is
You 'da man... just run into it, literally, and pick it up!
A real find...I'd be jumpy about what is next going to reach up out of the woods and grab me:D

Looks like a root rake for a dozer to me.

My wife is coming to Washington State Monday, and if I thought it would fit in her suitcase, I would get you to let her bring it home to me.
That looks like one implement my new tractor will have trouble tearing up.

And I thought the cement blocks I found a few weeks ago with my Woods shredder were noisy!

Wow.

Looks like Rebuilder gets the prize... What did he win, by the way?:D

I hope you didn't find the cable by wrapping it around the Bush Hog... that stuff makes a real mess!

I wuz hoping for the dozer... then I'd have a reason to buy the root rake from him. :)

Nice find . Someone will pay $1500 and be happy to get it!

Sounds like what you need is a slope/ditch mower like the one I just bought.
Something you can sit in one place and reach out and clear a little while your watching it, plus being able to reach uphill and down into gullies.
Shame your so far away, as I would be interested in giving it a tryout.

I found some old rusted cable with the brush hog, it took a lot of swearing and some time to undue the mess. Luckily it was only about a 5-6 foot long piece to untangle.

I plan on renting a dozer with a rake in a month or so. The rake rental is an extra $150 for the week. So you found yourself a real nice hunk of metal.

My most frequent surprize so far has been rolls or wads of barbed wire. They get picked up and spun around by the blades but not wrapped around the shaft thank goodness.
