Brush hog question

/ Brush hog question #21
The other thing to consider is how much a bigger cutter will weigh, especially if you get a medium or heavy duty unit. You will probably need front weights especially if you get a 5 or 6' cutter with a smaller tractor.

While a rotary cutter may not leave a manicured lawn like a good finish mower, they can do a very nice job IMO. And you don't really have to worry about hitting rocks, etc.

If you cut every few weeks. your cutting load will be easy and you can get by with a larger mower. Myself, I'm lucky to get the pastures mowed once or twice a year (35 acres). I only have a 6' mower and I've been thinking about something larger, but I'm not sure that going to an 8' would be worthwhile, and a 10' seems like a little much. (If I get a new mower, it will be a tow behind, rather than a 3 pt hitch.)
