Brush Hog or Finish

Duane,
That is a nice lookin set up you have. That mower should hold up well. If that is your truck pulling the trailer I think that it is more than capable, nice rig. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

please tell me that you are going to take the left over money and buy some more chains and binders. After looking at the picture I would hate to see those shiny new toys fall off the trailer. Sorry rant over nice looking tractor.

No problem. I have more on it now. That was just setting it on the trailer.
Thanks.

Yep, that's mine.
I used to pull a 33' 3 slide 5th wheel and a 4 place sled trailer in the winter. Now I don't have either one of them so I might sell the truck.

Don't tell me you're getting out of sledding. Us snowmobilers need to stick together.

Hey Tim,
No, just sold the trailers. After building the house up here in the north country, I just leave the sleds up here now and use the house as our get a way instead of the 5th wheel now.

Born in the UP of Michigan, sleds run through my blood. I can't let that sport go. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I recently purchased a B3030 and had the same decision to make. I decided on a 60" RFM. By the time I got it all delivered the field grass was 4' tall in much of the area and it cut without any problems. I did cross cut a good part of it to get a smoother finish on that initial cut of such tall grass but the second cutting 1 month later will not require cross cutting. Although they handle both brands at comparable prices, my Ag dealer recommended Woods instead of Brush Hog. He thought the Woods RFM gave a smoother cut and said that they sold few Brush Hogs anymore. The Woods PRD model I bought has 4 wheels to follow contours and I cut at it's maximum height of 5 1/2".

The Woods RM990 is a hybrid between a finish mower and a rough cutter. It is a 3ph, rear PTO driven cutter. The deck looks like a HD rear finish mower, but there are three small stump jumper spindle pans, each of which has two free pivoting blades each 1/4" thick and 2.5" wide. The unit cuts a 90" swath.

Several folks on here have said that this unit is ideal for cutting large pastures while leaving a finish mower cut. HP requirements at the PTO are 25-50 HP.

What kind of damage to my pocketbook for one of the RM990 monsters?

I must apologize to you my good man, for having no clue about that little piece of information! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I think that if the big server data transfer is over and the archives are once again available, you might go to the MAIN search page, look under "Attachments", set the chronometer to "all posts" and search under the term, "RM990", you might find some previous discussions of this gentle beast. Otherwise, you may need to go to Woods web site and use the "Dealer Locator" function, and ring up some of them.

Goooood Luck! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
