Well I fabricated a new brush guard and had it powder coated and installed it today. I cut the curved pieces on my CNC plasma table and welded 2 round pipes and a small square pipe in between. It's solid and I am happy with the way it turned out.

Looks really nice! Excuse my ignorance but what kind of tractor is that?

You should be happy. You did a great job.

I have always just painted my projects. Is powder coating expensive? It sure produces a tough finish.

If you damage the coating, can it be touched up with paint?

I have a pretty good source for powder coating and he treats me good as I have a cnc plasma cutting business and he gets all my projects that require powder coating. You can touch up with paint if you need to. I thought about the wire mesh afterwards too. I still may do it later and have the powder coat redone down the road or just build another one.

Nice work. I agree with reinforcing with Expanded Metal. More protection. I suggest the heavy guage product.

Nice job!!! Workmanship is as good as factory too. I agree with the expanded metal to fill in, maybe some openings for the headlights. Whenever I get around to building one for mine, I plan to make a section that angles back over the front corner (and top) of the hood for about a foot or so, with expanded metal in it too. This will help keep stuff that falls out the back of the bucket from damaging the hood. The only problem is I would have to make it hinged somehow, since my hood is hinged at its rear, and the front has to tilt upward obviously.
