Tiller Broken tiller - what went wrong?

I've noticed folks talking about it in other threads and have looked. The shaft splined together and each end is welded to its coresponding yoke. It might be a Japanese thing, not sure. But thanks for the suggestion. I'll try to post a picture tomorrow.
