Broken hose?

Hey all....another question from the newbie. Cleaning off our ford 3000, and we discovered this hose that looks like it comes from the oil reservoir, goes around by the fan belt and has just an open end. There痴 a little bit of rubber on the end of the metal, like it broke, but I知 not sure where it connects to. Anyone know?

G'day looks like the engine breather pipe to me should go up into the rocker cover will just vent to the atmosphere
