Oil & Fuel Broken Fuel Neck

Anyone break the fuel filler neck off of their Branson tractor yet? Broke mine while bush hogging a couple years back. A sapling popped up and broke it right off. I didn稚 even notice until I started smelling diesel fuel. I was lucky enough to find it in one piece (sort of) and after trying some fancy dancy plastic glues, turns out that good old JB Weld held it on just fine. I am a lot more careful though about putting that side of the tractor into the brush.

Isn't the fuel filter behind the right side panel? I looked at mine and I am trying to understand how this happened to you. (so I can prevent it from happening to me)

Yeah, my buddy down near Troup, TX has cracked the neck to tank joint on his. Now he can only put a few gallons in at a time. When I was operating it last month to work up his gardening project, it was sloshing and weeping. What a pain.

They do seem to have been vulnerably placed.

Anyone got a source for a replacement tank that doesn't cost a fortune?

Fuel filler not filter.

The filler neck sticks out at an angle from under the right floor board on my 4720. A small sapling got between the filler neck and......something. I didnt actually see it get in there. The main thing is, is keep the right side out of the brush.

The plastic tanks can be repaired very nicely with a soldering iron after you clean it. I'm not sure about JB-like weld on the tank, but the soldering iron melts the material together as if it wasn't broken. I did this for my gasser and it worked great. If you are interested do a search on repairing a plastic gas tank.

I use a FEL to protect mine from direct impact. Good excuse to go buy one . . . no?
