I'm using 27W bulbs in my B2400. I think they are normally used in trailer brake light assemblies. They work just fine for me (when the bucket doesn't block them).
I don't know if the lens assembly & housing can handle the heat from a 55W bulb. I think things would start to melt or burn.

There was some talk about this in the past. Try a search to see what was said. If I remember right, those who know electrics better than I said 55w bulbs would draw more amps than the system can handle.
I would think Peter makes a good point about the heat also.

I changed out the bulbs shortly after I got my 2710. They were the 27w versions that had a hard job lighting up my sidewalk let alone the field ahead. I got 50w high intensity back-up bulbs from my local Auto Zone store and installed them. What a difference !!!
Now I can see when it gets dark. No problems with the fuse as they only draw about 8 amps on a 10 amp fuse.
Stay away from the halogen 55w units as they are too hot for the housing.

I found 50W bulbs at the local Fleet Farm store, they were replacement bulbs for fog lights, as I remember they were about $3.50 a pair but what a difference, ran them for allmost a year now with no heat problems to the housings.
