I have a 2007 3510i and from day one when engaging the clutch, it's made this chattering or grinding noise. At first I thought it was new, so it would take time for the clutch surfaces to smooth out, and the noise would eventually stop. This has not been the case. I have now 170 hrs on the beast and it still is making the noise and it seems to be getting worse. The tractor is obviously still under power train warranty, however, it is my understanding the whole tractor has to be split in half to get at the clutch. I'm a little reluctant to have such drastic surgery done to my relatively new tractor, especially since my dealer is nearly 100 miles away and I have no means of transporting it. Also, it seems to me such a complete tear down would probably cause more problems in the process.
Has anyone out there had the same or similar problem and what did you do about it?

Call your dealer and have the clutch replaced. You need to do it sooner than later, no need in waiting. Fix your tractor and be happy.....

If you hate having this done now, you're going to die if you have to pay/do it yourself after warranty. Get it done quickly, lest they say you waited so long that something else is damaged and will not be covered by warranty due to neglect.

Did you get your clutch replaced? I believe Branson is putting a 200 hr limit on clutch replacment now. Technically a clutch is a wear item. Get it done now before it coes out of your pocket.....

You have a noisy throwout bearing, that's why it chatters when you push the clutch in.

A couple weeks after my original post and the first time since I bought the tractor, the chattering just disappeared. The clutch now sounds perfectly normal or should I say no sound at all. I've been using the tractor quite extensively since then and the problem has not surfaced again.
What was causing it? I have no idea and am only glad that it's working normal now.......................jm

I would AT LEAST register it IN WRITING with your dealer as a problem that has been there and is not currently showing it's symptom(s).

You are going to be SICK about this if it shows up again at 201 hours and there is nothing on record at your dealership.

I have reported this chattering problem to my dealer at least three times. I will call them to make sure it's on record, if not, I will send them a letter, thanks.....................JM
