My right rear brake pedal when pressed doesn't come back. Musshy as I call it. I've checked the linkage and it seems fine. i assume its something in the actual brake system.

Steve,

Often you can narrow it down to a broken spring, sticky excentric lobe that accuates the shoe spread, or dust and dirt restricting shoe travel and return. I am not real familiar with your model, but I think they are all basically the same (until you get into wet breaks).

A simple check, by removing the linkage and break cover will indicate the problem, and usually a quick fix.

Regards, Mark

Start by shooting some PB Blaster around anything that moves in the brake system. Mostly where the lever attaches at the brake. If it does't fix it , it will sure help on getting it apart.

Steve ,
Its a lot easier if you jack it up & remove the tire first, then the brake cover.
Do it outside if possible, because when you blow it out with air its really dusty & rusty !

It's likely brake dust jamming the brake shaft where it goes into the brake drum housing. You can't lube it without disassembly because of the o-ring at the outer end of the shaft that makes it watertight.

On my YM240 (YM2000) this was the first of several minor repairs I made to restore the tractor to good working condition.

I loosened the fender and swung it back out of the way, then removed the brake enclosure cover to clean the shaft.

It was a little snug working with the wheel still in place but far more space than working on a modern auto engine. I thought for my beginner's project it was safer to leave the wheel holding up the tractor.

My total time was under an hour. Later I got a flat-rate manual and it shows 0.6 hours for this project including removing the wheel. I hope a 2210 is equally simple.
