I have an X585. Question is: does it significantly affect brake life to leave the weight box on (and loaded) or should I be unloading the weight when not necessary? Or do the brakes last so long that it's not a concern?

Because they're in the trans, I'm assuming the brakes are difficult ($$$) to replace.

Thanks

Assuming that your X585 is a hydro, you really would never be using your brakes at all.

As was said, with the dynamic braking of the tranny I doubt you are on the brakes a lot. They are wet brakes and I don't think I've heard of anyone wearing them out. That said, there really is no need to carry extra ballast if you are not using it.
