If you dont have a dollie for your box scraper think about building one, for me it was a whole lot easier to move the box scraper into place to reattach. Next project since this worked so well is a backhoe dollie.

there was a post a while back about buying the 4 wheeled 'furniture' (not hand truck) dollie from Harbor Freight/Nothern Tool for the same use, but they did not stand up to the long term weight. What design did you use..

pictures? weight capacity of each wheel?
I have a 5ft box. What I did was , made a 24in x 54in frame using 2x4. I attached 2x6x24in strips across the bottom an attach 2in swivel casters at each corner. I covered the top with 1/2in plywood. As far as weight capacity of each wheel I have no idea, it just something I have laying around my shop.I will posted photos???

I looked up the weights of several box blades..267lb, 640lb, 498 lb, 510lb. .. so, let's assume that you need to handle 650 lbs total. My experience is that setting stuff down is not always exactly flat or centered. Thus, I'd say that the entire weight needs to be withstood by two wheels.

If this is the case, then each wheel must be capable, minimum, of holding and operating at 325 lbs without breaking. An engineering safety margin would take that to maybe 500 lbs each. Subtract/add the weight of the platform somewhere along the way. I'm hopeful your 2 inch casters will stand up to your needs. Typically, 2 inch casters do not have this kind of weight capacity.

Your backhoe dolly will need some really tough casters since I bet it weighs more.

I've been thinking of doing something like an equipment dolly, but haven't yet located, for a price I want to pay, 4 wheels that meet these specs... but, I'm watching the scrap metal place...you never know what will show up thre.

I've used a furniture dolly, works pretty well.

I was just over to Homer's Depot and saw casters rated at 255lbs for just under $13. Seems like that would handle most box scrapers. Of course $5 more and you get twice the capacity with the Northern wheels.

I looked at that backhoe dolly and noticed it looks a lot like the thing I have my tablesaw on. And I have others that are similar...but smaller for other woodworking tools.

Exactly, I have a 10" table saw that weighs a ton, and I use that contraption on my jointer, planer, and drum sander. They slide easily around the shop. I even put my lumber on a rolling platform. If that thing ever breaks, I am dead.

The grizzly tent sale is tomorrow at 0800 in Muncy PA. I bought a 300 pound cart from them for $5 which my 55 gal drum sits on. I also buy their mobile bases from their store demos for about 1/4 of the regular cost. I can't build that stuff that cheap.

I've got a grizzly 14 in bandsaw and a 6 in jointer. I'd love to be close to that tent sale:mad:

Best casters I've found, so far, are from HF... current sale a few days ago for 5 inch casters, 330lb each is about $3.50 to 4.00, depending on swivel or rigid.
