Will one of these box blades or the Grademaster re-grade the surface of a
hard packed Grade A gravelled road or are they just used for spreading
loose gravel that has been recently dumped.

Depends on what you're dragging it with. Looks like the Landini you list in your profile is a pretty stout machine...a box blade will pull itself down into whatever you're engaging until it hits whatever elevation you have it set at.

By re-grade, I figure you're talking about scraping off and/or working with the top inch or two and filling in some holes/ruts/washboard elsewhere on the existing road? I'd say you should have pretty good success with that, though I haven't tried it myself.

Worst case is you go over it over and over with the scarifiers set an inch down to CREATE some loose gravel...then use the "box" feature of the box blade to evenly replace the gravel you've created.

Probably a pretty good bet.

Thanks for the reply, yes it is the repairing of an existing road that has winter wear, with about 2-3 inch potholes.
