Hi Guys,

After reading a recent thread about box blades, with some saying it was a mistake buying one, or something like that, I got to thinking...dangerous I know!

I have had my T&T long enough that I forgot that some tractors are all manual.

Anyway, I am starting to think that without the T&T, using the box blade would be a real pain, if not worse.

Am I seeing this right? I am thinking that without T&T the box blade might be more of a curse than a pleasure to use.

Bill

And I think it is neither. It's just not as convenient to operate. Just like a back blade without T&T on a tractor, still very useful.

No, we used them for years without it and a bb was still our choice for dirtwork.

Yep. Have we became so spoiled that we can't use a tool without TnT or a tractor without 4wd?

Larry, first FWA tractor I saw was an Oliver. Mayber 2150 model? At the Iowa Farm Show. Circa 1967-ish. :)

I have used my BB to move and level a lot of dirt without a TnT. While it may take manually setting up the box blade, once you learned where to set it for each function, it is fairly quick and easy.

Rollover Box Blades are designed specifically for tractors without T & T.

If someone has never used a box blade...being able to make instant adjustments with T&T makes the learning process much less frustrating...T&T allows a new operator to instantly see what happens as the aggressiveness of the cutting edge changes and how it performs...

Also there is a huge difference between working on long flat roads etc. and curvy, hilly, multi pitched lanes or driveways...To work with a box blade on the former does not require much adjustment after the initial setup...where as the latter may require constant adjustments and would be nearly impossible to work efficiently without hydraulic T&T...

I just bought a used box blade and order a T&T for my BX because of exactly what you said. I live on a steep hill and have been trying to grade a path down to my lower end of the property. Did most of the work with my FEL bucket with a Piranha tooth bar. Definitely been struggling using my back blade cutting into the hill and getting the slope I want.

Jeez, I use my box blade all the time and have never thought I needed a T&T. Not really sure why I would. I use mine for path and road clearing, and usually it's on my tractor 80% of the time. How would a T&T help me?
