Box Blade Without Top and Tilt? Pleasure or Curse?

I wouldn't think of doing manual adjustments on my larger box blade. At 1,200 lbs it a whole different game than with my lighter 5' box blade on my B7800.

When I was ripping up sod with the back edge the sod would roll up and on top of the box blade causing it to want to sink lower and bite harder. I could continue working by just bumping the hydraulics on the top link, not stopping and adjusting: the sod peels were heavy and pulling them off in order to adjust the top link would have been a real bear.

Draft control + top n tilt would be the ultimate. I’ve never done it but from what I’ve read draft control will prevent the box blade from digging in too much and stopping the tractor.

^^^ I have draft control on my NX and I didn't use it with my box blade: did not think to! Next chance I get I'll look to try it out (though I find that I really don't need to use the scarifiers- mostly, though, because they really anchor the tractor. Thanks for the comment!
